The OSU Marching Band is an all brass and percussion marching band. If you play a woodwind instrument and would like to participate in our Athletic Band Program please click here.
Thank you for your interest in becoming a part of TBDBITL!
All candidates that have not been members of the marching band in past years are required to attend Candidate Training Days. These days are meant to introduce new candidates to what will be expected during tryouts.
For additional practice, feel free to attend the optional rehearsals lead by veteran members of the band known as Summer Sessions. The full schedule can be found here, where percussion players start at 5:30pm and brass players begin at 6:30pm at the Steinbrenner Band Center (unless otherwise noted).
For those trying out who will require housing, the OSU Housing Office has made accommodations available. Please review the OSU Housing Letter and contact the housing office with further questions.
Many woodwind musicians choose to pick up a brass or percussion instrument. Contact the band office for information on private lesson opportunities.
Those auditioning for The Ohio State University Marching Band will need to have some pieces of music prepared for music auditions on the first day of tryouts. Those pieces are all included on this tryout sheet. Items 1-5 do not need to be memorized, however items 6-8 need to be memorized. This is the music for the 2014 tryouts. Feel free to use it as a demo, but the 2015 tryout music will be released a couple of weeks before tryouts.
